TOPSOIL

When planting trees, shrubs, plants, etc., replacing or mixing the existing soil with topsoil can help plants grow better. Topsoil is also ideal for filling in low spots in lawns or along walkways and patios. Adding a few inches of topsoil gives lawn grass a better chance than subsoil or clay.

Garden Mix.jpg

Our garden mix is a blend of our screened topsoil, decomposed bark, and peat moss. Its texture is porous, allowing water to flow through slowly enough for the plants to access it but fast enough to avoid waterlogged, soggy soil. Loam is loose and crumbly. Loose soil provides room for air to mix into the soil, which is also necessary for optimal plant growth.

SANDY TOPSOIL

The following are various uses of sandy soil:

- Agricultural need

- Easy Drainage

- Construction

- Foundation

- To Beautify a garden

- Low Settlements

- Changing PH Levels

Mulch is a layer of material applied to the surface of soil. Reasons for applying mulch include conservation of soil moisture, improving fertility and health of the soil, reducing weed growth and enhancing the visual appeal of the area.

MULCH

Coarse pitrun is raw gravel excavated from the pit. It is a blend of sand and stones up to 12″ , but typically 6″ and less. It is used as a base material for building roadways, parking areas and driveways. Can also be used as backfill around concrete walls for industrial and commercial buildings.

PITRUN:
COARSE

BANK SAND

Sandy pitrun or bank sand is often used for filling low areas and raising elevation. This sand is recommended as a base layer to prep for grass installation as it fills in lawn areas that are low and grass grows very well in this type of sand. Also, it can be used as fill material, to build a base, or to level concrete.

Screened Sand Medium Shot.jpg
SCREENED SAND

Screened sand is bank sand that is screened to remove large rocks and pebbles. Screened sand has many uses:

- Bedding around pipes

- Concrete mixing

- Adding to vegetable gardens and flower beds to loosen soil

- To provide an even, fine base underneath concrete slabs

- Filler for volleyball courts, horse arenas, beaches, playgrounds, etc.

7/8s GRANULAR A

"A" gravel is crushed stone, 7/8" to fines. It is excellent at compacting and has limited draining capabilities. It is used in driveways, as a base material for asphalt, concrete, and interlocking brick/paving stones. Granular A is typically the material you would find on the shoulder of a highway.

Stone Dust.jpg
STONE DUST

Stone dust is like a coarser version of sand. It's generally the by-product of crushed stone. Stone dust is a non-porous material therefore using it as filler between paving stones can solve the issue of weeds growing between as well as stopping heavy rain from seeping below the paving stones into the base materials. This can reduce the risk of shifted and damaged paving stones.

1/2" CLEAR STONE

Clear stone allows for drainage and is most commonly used for pipe bedding, around weeping tiles, as a base for poured concrete, and for surfacing driveways and walkways.

PEASTONE

Peastone is a natural round stone 3/8” to 5/8” that provides excellent drainage and will not compact. It’s a low maintenance landscaping alternative that has a natural look. Peastone is clean and won’t track inside your home/business.

Common uses include:

- Playgrounds

- Walkways or areas around steppingstones

- Drainage

- Dog runs

TRAP ROCK

Trap rock is a type of basalt rock that is crushed and used in several different construction applications. Basalt is dark, dense, fine-grained igneous rock formed from solidified lava in the earth’s crust. The following are various uses of trap rock:

- Crushed stone

- Concrete & asphalt aggregates

- Railroad ballast

- Concrete paving

- Floor tiles
